The simple shapes and pictures found in dingbat fonts make them especially useful in logo design or as icons or symbols in newsletters, books, brochures, or other types of publications. Some symbols work fine as is needing nothing more than resizing to fit your layout. But most dingbats can be improved on with a few simple techniques 2. The easiest way to alter a dingbat font (or any other piece of clip art) is to flip it or rotate it. One reason to flip an image is so that it leads the eye in the direction you want it to go. 3. Distort or skew the dingbat font image to change its shape or to add perspective, making it appear to recede or pop out of the page. 4. Dingbat fonts, like regular fonts, have no color. They are generally created in black or other solid colors. With or without other manipulations you can add color to change the look of the dingbat. Changing the overall color is usually the easiet.
